Carbon Monoxide Death
KENTUCKY...
A Kentucky coroner says a toddler apparently died of carbon monoxide poisoning after she and two siblings fell ill in their family's older-model minivan during a trip.
Franklin County Coroner William Harrod said the family was traveling on Interstate 64 in Frankfort on Friday afternoon when the parents noticed one of their three children was sick and went to a local hospital. All three children were then unconscious.
Fifteen-month-old Brienna Scruggs was pronounced dead that evening. Her older siblings regained consciousness after receiving oxygen. The family was returning to Indianapolis from West Virginia, where they were moving.
Harrod says small children are at greater risk of carbon monoxide poisoning because they breathe faster.
Frankfort Police Major Fred Deaton says the death is under investigation.
