Red Cross Thief Gets Probation

KENTUCKY...

A woman who apologized for stealing more than $9,000 from a Red Cross chapter won't go to prison if she follows probation requirements. The Paducah Sun reported Carolyn Reid stood in the Carlisle County Circuit Courtroom on Thursday and said she was sorry for what she had done.

Circuit Judge Tim Langford told Reid many people had written letters on her behalf and it would be a shame if he had to send her to prison. But Langford imposed a five-year probation and told Reid she would be sent to prison if she failed to comply with court requirements that include 300 hours of community service work.Special prosecutor Raymond McGee says Reid repaid the entire $9,406 last month.
