Kentucky Labor Secretary Retires

Kentucky Labor Secretary J.R. Gray has retired, ending nearly three decades of work in Frankfort.
Gov. Steve Beshear announced Gray's retirement on Tuesday, saying the former lawmaker intends to return home to Benton to spend more time with his family.
Beshear thanked the 72-year-old Gray for representing the state's working families, saying he "has fulfilled this mission well."
Gray was a longtime union leader who also served 26 years as a state representative from western Kentucky. He served as chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee for more than a decade.
Beshear appointed one of Gray's deputies, Mark Brown, as acting secretary.
