West Virginia Joins Foreclosure Investigation

The West Virginia Attorney General's office will participate in a nationwide review of mortgage lending practices. Attorney General Darrell McGraw's office said Wednesday it has joined attorneys general in 48 other states to investigate how foreclosures are being handled by lending institutions. The investigation comes following allegations that mortgage lenders have been evicting homeowners using flawed court papers. West Virginians can file complaints with McGraw's office by calling the Consumer Protection Hot Line, 1-800-368-8808, or by obtaining a complaint form from the consumer web page at www.wvago.gov.
