Senator Announces Run For Governor

Senator Clark Barnes, R-Randolph, who is serving his second term as senator of the15th Senatorial District, has announced that he will be seeking the Republican nomination for governor in 2012. Barnes, a business owner in Buckhannon, says he has retained the political consulting firm of Dresner, Wickers and Associates to work with his campaign. The firm's previous clients include former Arkansas governor and GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Barnes joins at least three other senators weighing gubernatorial options: Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, D-Logan; Judiciary Chairman Jeff Kessler, D-Marshall; and Sen. Brooks McCabe, D-Kanawha.
