PEIA Considers Rate Increase

Rate increases are planned by the Public Employees Insurance Agency. If you have health coverage through the agency, your premiums could increase by $14 a month next year, but there are incentives to offset the increase. Under the 2011-12 plan given preliminary approval late last week by the P-E-I-A finance board, if you take part in the pre-set wellness program you will receive a $10-a-month premium discount. Insurees who sign an affidavit verifying they have prepared an advance directive for end-of-life care will receive an additional 4-dollar a-month discount. Public hearings are planned to start next month.
