Chamber Of Commerce Forum Set

KENTUCKY....
The Pike County Chambers' Town Hall Forum: Health Care Reform & How It Will Affect You and Your Business will take place on October 5th from 5-7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn.

Keynote Speaker Greg Schell

Greg Schell has recently been on Capitol Hill lobbying on Health Care Reform and has served as Special Project Assistant to the Lt. Governor's office during the Patton/Henry administration. He is an active member and co-chair of the local association as well as the National Association of Health Underwriters, where he serves as one of its legislative co-chairs and participates in the Capitol Conference every year.

Topics of discussion include:

If you're a small business that offers coverage to employees, and the
average wages of your employees are less than $50,000 per year, you may be
eligible for a tax credit to help with the cost of coverage, even if you
don't owe income taxes.

Plans can't cancel coverage for people who get sick.

Children with pre-existing health conditions cannot be denied coverage.

If you cover dependents on your health plan, they can be covered until the age of 26, even if they are not full-time students or if they are married.

The coverage gap for prescription drugs for retirees on Medicare Part D plans begins a gradual phase-out with the gap completely closed by 2014.
