Two Die In I-71 Crash

KENTUCKY...
Tragedy struck on I-71 in Boone County. Two people died when their car collided with two tractor trailers. The horrific wreck tied-up the highway for hours near the Walton-Verona exit. This happened during what is being described as a torrential downpour around mile-marker 73 near Verona. It is an area where accidents happen all the time and in the crash Wednesday afternoon, two people died. The collision left behind a hazardous mess of diesel fuel and oil all over the roadway. Crews used a kitty-litter type mixture to soak up what they could and then swept it all to the roadside to be collected by highway crews. North and south-bound traffic was deadlocked for more than four hours. Police have not identified the two people that died, other than to say they are both 53-year-old women from Ohio. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the Boone County Sheriff's Department at (859) 334-2175.
