Prestonsburg High School Student Killed In Car Wreck

Lakyn Pennington, who turned 18 on Sunday and then died late Monday night, was supposed to start her junior year Wednesday at Prestonsburg High School. Friends and teachers started the school year grieving her loss after police say she lost control of her SUV, causing it to crash and eject her from the vehicle while traveling on Route 1428 in Floyd County. Another family member in the car, 12 year old Brittany Pennington was treated and released from the hospital. Pennington's funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin.
