Matoaka Officials Reject Federal Plan


WEST VIRGINIA....
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is offering to purchase flood-prone property in the southern West Virginia community of Matoaka. Town officials have rejected the federal plan in a move to protect several historical buildings FEMA would demolish. Town Manager Kelly Colonna says the mayor decided not to participate since Matoaka is growing, thanks in part to the Hatfield-McCoys Trail system. Some residents who would like to sell say the decision is leaving them with no options.
