Kentucky Escaped Convicts Charged With Attempted Murder
KENTUCKY...
A Nashville police officer, shot after a prison escape in Mississippi, has been named Middle Tennessee's Police Officer of the Year by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.
Sgt. Mark Chesnut was seriously wounded but has returned to light duty after the shooting in June 2009.
Escaped convicts Joseph Jackson and Cortney Logan of Louisville, Ky., who police said helped in the escape, are charged with attempted murder. Jackson is accused of shooting the officer when he pulled them over in Nashville. The two have pleaded not guilty.
