Court Monitor To Investigate State-Run Psychiatric Facility
WEST VIRGINIA....
David Sudbeck, a court monitor tracking the state's progress at state-run psychiatric facilities, says he's very concerned about the overbedding at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston. Records show the facility is consistently overcrowded, and union representatives say working conditions put both employees and patients in danger. Sudbeck says, over the past two weeks, he has heard from eight to 10 Sharpe employees about problems. He plans an investigation later this month, focusing on the hospital's physical condition, patient treatment, staffing levels and other issues.
