Famed Historian Alleges Errors In Coal Exhibit
WEST VIRGINIA....
It appears West Virginia's new state museum exhibits meant to portray the history of coal mining in the Mountain State have raised some differences in opinion. Wess Harris, an author and state Labor History Association board member who was named last year's "West Virginia History Hero'' objects to the exhibits as the museum prepares to celebrate its first anniversary on West Virginia Day, June 20th. Harris alleges the nearly $18 million exhibits contain several errors, putting Harris at odds with the state Division of Culture and History, which oversees the museum and has dismissed the questions he's raised about the displays. Harris says the visual content is good, and it's a wonderful presentation, but a few things need to be changed...an opinion not shared by the state Division of Culture and History.
