Opening Of Flooded Mingo County Schools Uncertain

Due to major flood damage, Mingo County School Superintendent Dwight Dials says it's uncertain if students at Gilbert Elementary and Gilbert High School will be able to finish the term there. He says it will take 10 to 12 days to clean up the schools, and students will return to them, but it's not known if they will be able to return before school is out for the summer. A request has been submitted to the U.S. Department of Education for a waiver for the WESTEST assessment tests Mingo County students take annually.
