Beshear Files Application For Federal Disaster Declaration
Governor Steve Beshear has pledged the full help of the state to assist those attempting to clean up and rebuild after the weekend's devastating floods, saying nothing will stand in the way of the state stepping up to do everything it can to help the people. After touring eastern Kentucky Tuesday, he filed the state's application on Wednesday, which, if granted, will activate federal programs to assist in the recovery effort. He says, although assessments aren't all in, there's enough to go ahead with paperwork, but the application probably will be amended a few times as assessments become more specific.
