State Files Lawsuit Against Childers Oil Inc.
The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet filed a lawsuit Tuesday (today) against Childers Oil Inc. of Whitesburg. Childers is accused of contaminating the Letcher County water supply after a diesel fuel spill fouled the North Fork of the Kentucky River, upstream from the intakes for the local water treatment plant. Letcher County officials are seeking a temporary injunction to prevent additional discharges into the Kentucky River.
