House Snags Abortion Bill

Senate Bill 79, which would require pregnant women to have ultrasounds and a face-to-face meeting with physicians before having abortions, hit a snag Tuesday (today) in the House Health and Welfare Committee. The measure received a vote of 8 to 8, not enough to get it to the House floor. Proponents say the plan gives women more information before having an abortion, but, those who oppose it, say it creates more obstacles to women facing a tough decision.
