Gambling Bill Gets Legislative "Thumbs Up"

A legislative approval was given by the House Liceencing and Occupations Committee, the first step in the process to allow more gambling at Kentucky horse tracks. House Speaker Greg Stumbo says the plan now is to send the legislation to House Appropriations and Revenue Committee.

Stumbo said Thursday, at this point the legislation doesn' have enough support to survive a floor vote. The proposal calls for video gambling terminals at 7 tracks, and Stumbo says the move could generate up to $340-million a year for the state.
