Southern West Virginia Counties Reporting Jobless Rates Below State Average.

Mingo and surrounding counties apparently aren't seeing the signs of an economic slow down thus far. West Virginia’s unemployment rate of 4.2 percent is over two percent less than the rest of the country.

Mingo County’s November jobless rate is 4 percent, Logan 3.7 percent, Lincoln 4.1 percent, Wyoming 3.8 percent, Mercer 3.9 percent, Boone 3.1 percent, Wayne 4.1 percent. McDowell County had a jobless rate of 5.3 percent.

Pocahontas had the highest at 8.5 percent. Monongalia the lowest at 2.5 percent.
