Pike County Man Indicted On Sex Charges.

A Pike County grand jury returned indictments on eight people Monday afternoon.

The most notable indictment was Barry Miller, 30, of Pike County.

Miller has been charged with three felonies, first degree sex abuse, first degree sodomy and first degree rape.

Miller is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a minor less than 12 years of age. The alleged offense took place over a three month period in 2006.


Rita Thornsberry, 45, of Garrett

Theft by unlawful taking. The accused allegedly shoplifted more than $ 300 in merchandise from JC Penney’s.

Penny Denise Young , 35, of Varney

Attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.

Joseph Caines , 27, of Varney

Daniel T. Caines, 32, of Varney

Two counts of receiving stolen property.

The duo are accused of stealing copper.

Theft by Unlawful Taking.

The accused allegedly took household items from a residence.

Hershel Ray Baker , 63, of Mouthcard

Receiving Stolen Property

Baker allegedly stole a water collection tank and a submersible pump from a residence.
