Kentucky Governor To Request Funding For East Kentucky Science Center.
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced Tuesday that he will request $ 400,000 in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission to be used for the permanent installation of a hands on interactive energy exhibit to be placed inside of the East Kentucky Science Center in Prestonsburg.
The estimated cost for the exhibit is $ 750,000. The state has pledged $ 100,000. The Pikeville Rotary Club gave a $ 5,000 donation.
The governor said that getting kids interested in math and science at a early age is vital for the commonwealth’s future.
The EKYSC attracts 10,000 visitors annually.
