WVSP Busy in Dingess. Recover Stolen Safes And Cite 16 People On Various Charges.

Troopers from the West Virginia State Police were busy Sunday in the Dingess area.

Troopers were summoned to a remote part of the area . Someone found two safes in the hills. The safes had lottery tickets valued at $ 1,000 . The safes came from the Tiger Mart in Ashland. The business was robbed last month.. Authorities told us that at the time of the crime the safes had $2,500 in cash in them. Of course the loot is missing.

The State Police are trying to figure out how the stolen safes made there way into Mingo County.

While authorities were on the mountain working the scene they observed a pickup truck driving erratically. The truck carrying 16 people from Lincoln County was pulled over. Everyone was cited. Charges include public intoxication, possession of pills, possession of marijuana, underage drinking, contributing to a minor.

Police confiscated the truck, the booze and the drugs. The people ranged in ages from 16-47.

The violators must appear in Mingo County Magistrate Court within 10 days.
