Lawmakers Meet To Address Education Cuts
A proposal by Governor Beshear involving an $18.5-billion dollar two-year spending plan, which included 12% funding cuts to numerous state government agencies and public colleges and universities, prompted a meeting yesterday (Sunday) in Frankfort.
Members of six budget subcommittees from the House met behind closed doors in an effort to find ways to avoid making funding cuts in education in the state budget which begins July 1.
Results of the meeting were not made public.
