Founder Of WXCC Radio Dies.
A pioneer in broadcasting has died.
Bob Harvit the founder of 96.5 WXCC and former owner of 1400 AM WBTH passed away Monday at his home in Miami Beach, Fl at the age of 70.
Harvit purchased WBTH in 1966. He was responsible for purchasing the FM license for WXCC. The now 100,000 watt radio station debuted in the fall of 1978.
Harvit was the recipient of the 1977 WV Distinguished Boradcaster Award.
In November of 2007 Harvit was enshrined into the West Virginia Broadcaster Association's Hall of Fame.
Harvit served on several different occassions as the President of the WVBA.
