Bill That Would Stipends To Police Called To Active Duty Passes Kentucky House.
Local police officers who are called to active duty with the Kentucky National Guard or Reserves would continue to receive annual stipends from a state law enforcement fund under a bill that passed the House today.
Under House Bill 309, sponsored by Rep. Adam Koenig, R-Erlanger, officers receiving the $3,100 annual pay supplement from the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund, or KLEPF fund, would not lose that incentive while they are on active duty. The supplement is paid annually to local law enforcement officers who complete a required number of training hours.
"I think the least we can do is help out there fine folks and continue to pay them their KLEPF pay while they are serving us overseas," said Koenig.
HB 309 passed the House 87-0 and now goes to the Senate for its consideration.
