Weather Conditions Blamed For Train Derailment
A train derailment which ocurred Monday morning, at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 899 on the Floyd/Knott Counties line, has been blamed on the weather.
Transportation officials say as a result of an extreme shift in temperatures, going from very warm Sunday to cold in a few short hours, the rails shifted. The six cars involved didn't fall over, but, their wheels came off the tracks.
Officials say other trains were either stopped or re-routed during the all day cleanup.
