Logan County Man Leads Authorities on High Speed Chase. Second Person Expected To Surrender .
George Smith Jr, of Chapmanville was apprehended in Williamson but not before he led authorities from the West Virginia State Police and Mingo County Sheriff’s Department on a chase that varied in speeds from 85 mph to 120 mph. Smith was charged with speeding, reckless driving, fleeing, driving without a license nor insurance.
A second person that was driving a motorcycle with Smith was also pursued, but he eluded authorities by traveling through Chattaroy. However, James Smith with the MCSD told us that driver is expected to turn himself in on Tuesday. Smith says he faces numerous charges.
