Unemployment Rate Rose in Pike
The unemployment rate for the month of December has been released for Kentucky .
According to Workforce Kentucky jobless figures rose in 74 of the commonwealth’s 120 counties.
Most of the counties in our region saw their figures rise.
Pike County’s increased .1% to 5.5 %
Martin rose .4 % to 7.3%
Johnson County up .6% to 6.5 %
Floyd up .7 % to 6.5%
Letcher minus .3 % to 6.8 %
Knott minus .5 % to 6.4 %
Magoffin county’s figures stayed unchanged at 10% which makes it second highest in the state.
Lowest... Fayette and Woodford 3.7 % each
