Proposed Drug Testing For Welfare Recipients
A propsal filed by State Represenative Melvin Henley that would requirewelfare recipients be tested for drugs, and those found positive would lose their benefits is encountering strong opposition in Kentucky.
Though some of the working class, who are sometimes required to take a drug test to obtain or keep a job, believe it to be a good idea, others believe it is the children for whom the welfare is intended that would suffer.
The legislation is House Bill 190.
