Explosion at Phelps High School Injures Five.
Phelps High School was evacuated and classes were dismissed Wednesday afternoon.
Scott Hopkins with the Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville told us that a female student had a firecracker ignite in her pants pocket while she was in a classroom. The student was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for burns. Five other students were complaining of hearing problems following the blast.
The student body was moved into the gymnasium until there transportation arrived to pick them up.
