Congressman Hal Rogers Announces Funding for Flood Control Projects
Congressman Hal Rogers announced Thursday that he has secured nearly $ 9 million dollars in flood control improvements throughout eastern and southern Kentucky.
The following projects in our area will be funded.
Pike, Floyd, Martin and Harlan Counties - $ 4.9 million : The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sponsored flood control initiative, along the Tug Fork , Levisa and Upper Cumberland River, which includes structural changes to waterways , relocating homes and businesses and flood-proofing existing buildings . Project planning will also continue for Floyd County including Prestonsburg.
Martin, KY- $ 1.35 million : Work will continue to relocate the town .
