Sentencing Hearing for George Lecco and Valerie Friend Postponed by Federal Judge.
U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver postponed the sentencing of Mingo County residents George Lecco and Valerie Friend until the constitutionality of lethal injection is decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Lecco and Friend were found guilty in the 2005 murder of drug informant Carla Collins.
A federal jury recommended death for the two defendants.
Since West Virginia doesn’t have capitol punishment federal prosecutors want the two moved to a Indiana prison where lethal injections are performed.
