Police Held Safety Checkpoints This Past Weekend.

This past weekend the Kentucky State Police assisted several other police agencies as they conducted safety checkpoints.

Checkpoints were held at three different locations. Town Mountain Road intersection of US 119, and at the Pike / Floyd, Pike / Fletcher County line on US Route 23.

Trooper Scott Hopkins with KSP Post # 9 in Pikeville told us that they wrote over 50 citations and made four DUI arrests. Hopkins added that the purpose of the checkpoints is to save lives.

Another round of safety checkpoints will be conducted this Friday.
