Pike County Fiscal Court Meeting.
The Pike County Fiscal Court approved the following measures during Monday’s meeting.
Adopted a resolution to place a historical marker at Liberty. Liberty was Pike County’s first county seat. Liberty is located about a mile and a half from Russell Fork. The first session of the county court met on March 4, 1822.
Adopted a resolution to place a historical marker at Chloe to memorialize both the location of the town of Pikeville and the naming of its post offices, Pike – 1825, Piketon -1829 and Pikeville – 1881.
Adopted a resolution naming State Highway 468 also known as North Big Creek Road in honor of State Trooper Johnathan Leonard. Leonard was killed in an automobile accident last year.
Adopted a resolution expressing the county’s desire to accept the responsibilities and ownership of new bridge over Peter Creek at Daugherty Branch road and Johnson Bottom Road.
