Pike County Circuit Court Grand Jury Indicts Seven.

Seven people were indicted this week by the Pike County Circuit Court Grand Jury.

An indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Here are the list of names and crime that the defendant is accused of committing.


Kevin Smith, 22, of Canada, Kentucky: Theft by unlawful taking or exercising control of an A.T.V in an amount of, or a value, more than $300.00.

Jonathan Thornsbury, 24, of Sydney, KY : Theft by unlawful taking by unlawfully taking or exercising control of an A.T.V in an amount of, or a value, more than $300.00

James K. Akers, 33, of Banner, KY : Theft by unlaw taking by unlawfully or exercising control of copper wire in an amount of, or a value, more than $300.00 which belonged to American Electric Power.

Stephen M. Stanley, 62, of Pikeville, KY : Cultivating marijuana less than five plants ( Class A Misdemeanor )

Michael Blackburn, 43, of Pikeville, KY : Second Degree Assault. Blackburn is accused of shooting Eddie D. Charles with a gun thereby causing a serious physical injury.

John Glen Adkins, 35, residence unavailable : Two counts of theft by deception, ( Class D Felony ).

Kevin Hopkins, 42, of Shelbiana, KY : Driving under the influence of alcohol, ( 4th offense) ( Class D Felony). Persistant Felony Offender, second degree ( Class C Felony)
