WV Forest Fire Report.
The fall forest fire season is entering its third week in West Virginia. The Division of Forestry says that 46 fires have burned 282 acres of land. The agency reports 159 fires have burned around 800 acres since July 1.
Due to the lack of rainfall, officials are fearing that this could be the worst fire season in 20 years.
In 1987 2,261 fires scorched 428,810 acres.
