Update on Kentucky Forest Fires.
The Kentucky Division of Forestry reported 59 fires burned 3,394 acres last week. Fires were reported in Pike, Martin, Letcher and Floyd Counties.
So far this year 1,603 have been reported , 46,591 acres have burned.
59 % of forest fires in Kentucky are caused by arson, 29 % by debris.
Officials expect fire activity to increase as the leaves begin to fall, and dry conditions are expected to stick around. The long range forecast calls for below - average rainfall for the next several weeks.
