Floyd County Man Gets 60 Months for Faking Auto Accidents.

An eastern Kentucky man, already facing murder and kidnapping charges in state court, has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison after admitting that he staged several auto accidents and a home arson for insurance money.

Billy Joe Johnson, 48, of Bevinsville was sentenced after he pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy to commit mail fraud in connection with the arson and staged auto accidents. Johnson admitted on the witness stand in U.S. District Court at Pikeville that he orchestrated the schemes in 2002.

Johnson was among eight Floyd County residents indicted in 2006 for defrauding insurance companies from 2001 to 2004.
