Van Zant Honored
Saturday was an historic day at Lefty Hamilton Park. The baseball portion of the park was named Jim Van Zant Baseball Field. Van Zant is a fixture when it comes to athletics across the Tug Valley. The Williamson resident coached the Wolfpack to two baseball state titles. He has served as editor and sports editor of the Williamson Daily News, General Manager of the Pikeville Cubs, served on Williamson City Council, educator in the Mingo County School System for 13 years. The dedication ceremony was attended by local and state officials , and numerous friends from across the nation.
