Settlement Reached in Multimillion Dollar Lawsuit.

Ten students from Tug Valley High School that were injured when the school bus that they were riding on was slammed into by a tree trimming truck have settled there multimillion -dollar lawsuit against the driver Bruce Wayne Collins and his employer Asplundh.

Attorney Ben Salango would not announce the terms of the settlement. The lawsuit had sought $10 million in punitive damages and unspecified compensatory damages.

18 people in all were injured on April 4, 2006, when Collins crossed the center line and hit the bus. The accident occurred on Route 65 near Lenore.

Collins pled guilty to wreckless driving. He was sentenced to 90 days of home confinement on March 20th. Two other charges, improper lane change and DUI causing bodily injury were dismissed.
