Drought to Continue .
Lack of consistent rainfall across our area continues. Tony Edwards, forecaster with the National Weather Service in Jackson told us that eastern Kentucky is experiencing a moderate drought. This means that slight damage to crops has occurred; creeks and wells are running low. Edwards told us that since November, Pike and surrounding counties are seeing rainfall deficits of nine inches. Edwards says that the drought should continue for the next three months. The forecast calls for below average rainfall for the next two weeks.
