Three Pike County Teachers Receive Awards

Three Pike County educators were recently honored in Campbellsville University’s 21st Annual Excellence in Teaching Awards.

Tammy Layne, a science teacher of 27 years from Phelps High School. Bonnie Gibson, a math teacher for the past 12 years from Virgie Middle School. Gina Ray, from Pike County Central High School, Ray has been employed at the school since 2001.

The purpose of the Excellence in Teaching Awards Program is to recognize the quality of teaching and learning taking place in the school systems throughout Kentucky.

Since the program’s inception in 1987, 2086 teachers have been honored by there colleagues.
