Thefts at Cemeteries on the Rise in Floyd County
Memorial Day weekend is one week away. That’s when family members take time to remember loved ones that have already passed. Many of us pay respect by decorating grave sites. Floyd County Sheriff John Blackburn says that his office has investigated several complaints of thefts at cemeteries. Blackburn says that it is a problem that occurs each year. In most cases, the stolen items are taken to local flea markets where they sell them. The sheriff says that he advises people to wait until the actual Memorial Day holiday before decorating grave sites
