City of Pikeville Attempting to Expand.
Pikeville City Commissioners will meet June 13, for the second reading of an ordinance that will let residents of Lackens Branch to protest the city’s plan to annex. Property owners of Lackens Branch would have 60 days to file a petition to Mayor Justice. The signature with 50 percent of property owners are needed for the proposal to be put on the ballot during the next election. Lackens Branch is an old surface mining site that is situated behind Lowe’s. The city says that it needs the property to expand middle income housing.
