"Plaid Shirt Robber" Sentenced
KENTUCKY...
A Missouri man convicted by a jury of robbing three South Dakota banks was sentenced Friday to 18 years in federal prison.Joseph Young will serve three years at the same time he serves a 20-year sentence for bank robbery in West Virginia. Then he'll serve another 15 years for the South Dakota crimes.
The 39-year-old Young became known as the "plaid shirt robber" because surveillance cameras showed a suspect in that attire.He was ordered to make restitution of $11,322 to two banks in Sioux Falls and one in Mitchell that were robbed three years ago.Federal indictments in Minnesota and Kentucky charge him with nine bank robberies there in 2007 and 2008.
